Thank You, T-Boz: For the Music and the Mission
Thank you, T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chilli for helping shape a generation
I still remember when TLC dropped their first album like it was yesterday. Like so many of us, I was instantly in love. The music, the energy, the unapologetic realness—they were everything. Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, especially, with her cool voice and even cooler style.
That’s why it meant so much to me when I learned she’d used her voice to raise awareness about the need for more Black bone marrow donors. Speaking from her own experience living with sickle cell disease, she knew what was at stake, and she made it matter.
Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, gone too soon. May you rest in power.
And it touches me even more because we already lost Left Eye. To see T-Boz still here, still using her voice—not just to make music, but to help save lives—it reminds me how precious it is when our icons use their platforms to serve.
My dad is in this fight too as he waits for his match — the only hope for a cure for his diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. And knowing that T-Boz is standing up to help save lives like my dad’s? That means so much to me.
Thank you, T-Boz. For the music. For the mission. For all of it.
